Different vitamins perform different function and any deficiencies in specific vitamins could cause health problems. Vitamins are classified as fat soluble or water soluble. Fat soluble vitamins include A,D,E and K. They require dietary fat for absorption and stored in adipose tissue for up to 6 months. Water soluble vitamins include those B vitamins,riboflavin,thiamine, biotin etc. Water soluble vitamins are not stored in the body. They are depleted more rapidly and therefore,need to be consumed regularly.

Vitamins play an important role in the energy system. True vitamin deficiency results in impaired energy metabolism and hence impaired performance.

Now let's discuss about some vitamins :

Vitamin A : 
 Vitamin A is largely found on fish oil, Milk products, milk, green leafy vegetables and orange,carrots,tomatoes.

The deficiency disease of vitamin A are night blindness, lack of growth, more frequent and severe infections and inability to reproduce.

Vitamin D :
Vitamin D is largely found on fish oil,Tuna, shrimp and fortified milk.

The deficiency disease of vitamin D are Rickets, joint pain, muscle spasm etc...

Vitamin E :
Vitamin E is largely found on oil, soybeans, almonds and other nuts. It is also found on sunflower seeds and wheat germ.

The deficiency disease of vitamin E are anaemia, muscle weakness etc...

Vitamin K :
The only sources of vitamin K vitamins are green leafy vegetables.

The deficiency disease of vitamin K includes hemorrhage and poor bone mineralization.

Vitamin B1 :
Vitamin B1 is largely found on milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs, fish and sellfish. It is also found on poultry meat, avocado and broccoli.

The deficiency disease of vitamin B1 include beriberi, weight loss, cardiovascular problems.

Vitamin B12 :
Vitamin B12 can be largely found on meat, poultry, fish, milk, cheese, eggs and fortified cereals.

The deficiency disease of these vitamin B12 are abnormal gait, irreversible nerve cell death, numbness and extremities.

Vitamin C :
Vitamin C is largely found on fruit and fruit juices. It is also found on citrus food, potatoes, broccoli, spinach, strawberries and tomatoes.

The deficiency disease of vitamin C are bleeding of guns, inflamed gums, loose teeth and poor healing around wound.
